Eligibility

According to Bill C10, passed by the Government of Canada, the waiting period to become eligible for a Pardon/Record Suspension is as follows:

5 years: summary convictions

10 years: indictable convictions

Waiting periods begin once your sentence has been fulfilled, that is, once all jail sentences and/or probation are completed in their entirety and payments ordered by the court have been paid in full.

Court Documents Required

In July 2013, the Parole Board of Canada changed the requirement for necessary documents in Pardon/Record Suspension applications. It was previously only necessary to order court records to either prove that a payment was paid or to prove that a conviction was summary or indictable.

It is now mandatory to include court records for every conviction.
