Record Suspension new word for Pardon: Proposed New Legislation
Bill C-23 is proposing to change the word "Pardon" to "Record Suspension". The affect of a Record Suspension will still be the same as a Pardon, effectively removing the old criminal charge from public record. The reason for the change to Record Suspension is because the current Tory Government feels that the word "Pardon" implies forgiveness and affects the dignity of the victim that the crime was perpetrated against. When and if this Bill C-23 becomes a law, the word "Record Suspension" will take the place of the word "Pardon".
